The Springboks have just made one change to the starting XV that will do battle against the All Blacks on Saturday in Durban. Morne Steyn comes in at number 10 to replace the injured Ruan Pienaar. Adi Jacobs comes onto the bench after his injury as PdV decides to stick with the de Villiers and Fourie combination in midfield. As the old saying goes, “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” thus PdV has decided not to shake things up for this one. It will be interesting to see what Graham Henry comes up with for the All Blacks.
Springboks – 15 Frans Steyn, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Jean de Villiers, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Morne Steyn, 9 Fourie du Preez, 8 Pierre Spies, 7 Juan Smith, 6 Heinrich Brussow, 5 Victor Matfield, 4 Bakkies Botha, 3 John Smit (c), 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Beast Mtawarira.
Subs: 16 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 17 Jannie du Plessis, 18 Danie Rossouw, 19 Andries Bekker, 20 Ricky Januarie, 21 Adi Jacobs, 22 Wynand Olivier.

I am loooking forward to seeing how Morne handles the pressure of starting in a crucial match vs a top side like the All Blacks. I think this match will answer a look of questions and settle a lot of arguments. I respect PDV though for not changing a winning team….good on you coach.

Morne is going to see fire!! He could not tackle last week when Conrad Smith ran past him and I question is ability to get the backline running the way Ruan does. No doubt that his kicking for goal is going to be on point. It will be interesting to see how he lasts a full game.
Januarie is still on the bench!!!

Something that we may be missing here; if Morne Steyn gets injured or has a shocker that means Frans Steyn has to go to fly-half, Fourie will probably drop back to full-back and Jacobs/Olivier will come into midfield. The other option is to place JP at full back, move Fourie out onto the wing and then bring one of Jacons or Olivier into midfield.
Am I the only one seeing this as a potential banana peel for the Boks?
