The British & Lions Tour is now over and I am sure the Lions have left South Africa now and they are back home. I went out on Saturday night with Manny in Johannesburg and hoped to bump into the Lions Players out on the town enjoying a couple of Castle Lagers after the Third Test, but alas we had no idea where they would be! Instead we bumped into hordes of Lions supporters and they were certainly out to have a good time drinking after the win.

Jamie Roberts has been named the HSBC Player of the Series. I am assuming this is only taking into account the Lions players and not the Springboks. I have to agree with this award to Roberts as he was sublime in the first two tests that he played. Before the series, many had thought that the young 22 year old player was going to be outdone by Jean de Villiers in the center but Roberts was head and shoulders better than de Villiers in the opening two tests. Roberts brilliance is largely due to the fact that he had BOD partnering him in the centers. The two of them were simply world class and the Boks had no answers for them in the first two tests. One can only imagine what may have happened if both Roberts and BOD were fit for the final test and they were up against the inexperienced combination of Olivier and Fourie.

Simon Shaw came in second in the award and Tommy Bowe was third. I feel scrumhalf Phillips should have gotten a mention in the top 3. Do you agree with Roberts being named the best player for the Lions?
