If you missed Australia’s 18 - 11 win over the Barbarians last night in England, then you missed the birth of a future rugby star and his name is James O’Connor. The 18 year old Australian fullback looked as if he had been playing the game for many years. He was confident in what he did and he executed well. Needless to say his goal kicking was on point. There were moments when I thought to myself, “Here is the new Matt Burke”. With the way Australia grooms their youngsters, I am sure we are going to see a lot of O’Connor in the years to come.

Yes, O’Connor was at fault for the Barbarians try as he failed to clear his lines with his kick but every player has that one mistake in 80 minutes and I am sure James is going to learn from that. If the Australia teams with all its youngsters that beat the Barbarians yesterday is the team that will be representing Australia in the 2011 World Cup, then we are going to have one heck of a tournament.
