The debate of whether Peter de Villiers (PDV) is the right man to coach the Springboks or not will go on for as long as PDV is the coach. But today we will not dwell too much on PDV (We will save that one for another day) but instead look at the possibility of Eddie Jones coaching the Springboks.
Last week, Eddie Jones admitted the opportunity to work with South Africa in the future would be too good to turn down. The Springboks have never employed an overseas coach, but Jones did act as Technical Advisor during the 2007 World Cup. I personally feel that one of the main reasons the Springboks won the World Cup last year was because of Jones. When he started in his role as Technical Advisor, you could see the huge difference in the Springboks play. Jones actually got the backline to start ‘running’ and added another dimension to the Springbok play rather than just relying on the tight physical play they had gotten used to.
What do you think of the possibility of Eddie Jones taking up the reigns of the Springboks one day?

Lets get rid of PDV and get Jones in. Rather do it now rather than wait for PDV to mess up.
I am a great fan on Jones. Just have a look at his CV: coached the Australia national team, the Brumbies and the Reds. Then went on to be a critical part of our win in 07.
Get Jones now!!

Eddie Jones has and aleays will have my full respect as a coach and rugby expert. However, having said that, i would never remove a coach from the in less than a year of coaching. That is a debate for another day but in summary, i feel that PDV should be allowed to do his thing and prove himself before being judged. May i remind you guys that Jake White was called from the 2006 UK tour after the bulls had given him a vote of no confidence and they had every right to be pissed off, yet now he is being praised as a rugby god. So regarding ODV, isay, let him do what he has to and let’s assess him again after 24 months. Going back to Eddie Jones, I would love to see him team up with someone like Rassie and have him groom the young man (in coaching terms). It would be a match made in heaven, with Heyneke as the director of rugby ofcourse.

I guess what this is really boiling down to is if you would rather have PDV or Jones? There is no doubting the quality Jones brings to the table and head-to-head, Jones is miles better than PDV. But as Guru has said, give PDV time, I think PDV has the end of year tour to prove himself and if he fails then he is out and maybe Jones in.

I disagree, PDV is not a national team caliber coach, where as Eddie Jones is. As far as i can see the Springboks have the most quality and depth of any of the rugby playing nations at the moment and yet are struggling to pick up wins. This is as the result of a lack of direction from management. As far as i am concerned people we are at crisis point and we need to change coaches now so that we enables ourselves to defend our title of world champions. IN the words of the supporters of the Movement for Democratic Change (although tiri we zanu isu) CHINJA!!!!!! for those that may not understand CHANGE!!!!
Look nothing against PDV as a person but as a coach he just not ready and to blood a coach at the highest level is not on in my book.
Eddie for coach, if not eddie then bring in Dick Muir.
