Do you think Rugby should become an Olympic sport, starting at the Olympic games in London 2012? If so in what form: Sevens or the full 15 man code?
It makes sense to have it played as a Sevens game as there are more countries that play Sevens as opposed to the 15 man game. Sevens is quick and relatively exciting and can be played over one week. Whereas the 15 man game is very physically demanding on players and given that the Olympics last only 2 weeks, it would be difficult to find a suitable format for the countries to compete in in such a short space of time.
The Olympic committee is going to vote in 2009 to see if rugby can be included in the games. Other sports which are looking for Olympics slots are baseball, golf, karate, roller sports, squash, and softball. I look at it this way: I do not see rugby being passed as an Olympic sport largely due to the fact that the Americans do not like sports that they can not win in. I seriously doubt the USA would win an Olympic rugby medal. I am not saying that the Olympic Committee is just comprised of the USA but they do have quite a large say. They are after all the ‘controllers’, just look at how they causing chaos in the worlds economy.
What do you think: Rugby at the Olympics, yes or no?

It always amazes me why rugby is not an Olympic sport til this day. I never thought of it they way Ron mentioned that maybe the US have vetoed rugby as an olympic sport. Maybe the All Blacks could win Olympic gold since they cant win the WC.
